Locke appoints UW and WSU regents
OLYMPIA - Former Gov. Dan Evans has been re-appointed to the
University of Washington`s Board of Regents, Gov. Gary Locke announced
today. Locke also appointed Elizabeth A. Cowles and V. Rafael Stone to the
Washington State University Board of Regents.
Evans` new term expires Sept. 30, 2005. Evans served as
Washington`s governor from 1965-1977. He represented Washington in the
U.S. Senate from 1983-1989. He currently is in private business in
Seattle.
Cowles, of Spokane, is vice president of Cowles Publishing Co. She
oversees several divisions of Cowles Publishing Co., including three
television stations, a film and television production studio and a retail
development in downtown Spokane.
Stone of Seattle is a member of Seattle`s Foster Pepper & Shefelman
law firm. His accomplishments include service as the lead counsel and
partner in-charge of the Washington State Investment Board. He has served
on Campaign WSU, a developmental organization for the school, and as a
member of the university president`s business and corporate leaders
advisory group.
Cowles and Stone will serve in their WSU positions through Sept. 30,
2005.
Regents serve as members of universities governing bodies.
