Kevin Ketchie added to Government Relations Team

Periodic e-mail updates on developments affecting the university in Olympia and Washington D.C. are now available to students, faculty or staff by contacting Kevin Ketchie, WSU government relations specialist, in French 436.

The governor's proposed WSU budget is expected to be released later this month. Washington's Legislature convenes Jan. 14. Congressional budget conferees are currently working on the 2002 federal appropriations

Ketchie, formerly the Compton Union Building facilities coordinator, was recently added to the president's government relations team, consolidating many of the federal, state and local government relations responsibilities in Pullman that were previously performed by several other positions at the university.

He will serve as the Pullman campus contact for the WSU government relations staff led by Larry Ganders, Assistant to the President in Olympia. He is also a contact for Kristi Growdon, director of federal relations based in Seattle, and Jane Yung Dennie, Assistant Director of Government Relations in Bellevue.

Ketchie will be involved in bill analysis and research, tracking of legislation, public disclosure reporting, contacting and working with elected officials, constituent relations, and other government relations issues.

To be added to the revised "Olympia Update" mailing list, send an e-mail to ketchiek@energy.wsu.edu or calling 5-6292. An improving government relations web page with frequent updates on WSU issues and guidelines affecting federal, state and local government is also available to the university and the public at www.olympia.wsu.edu .
