Vancouver Applied Technology Classroom Building
$38.67
million
Construction funding is requested for 2009-2011 to build a
new Washington State University engineering teaching and research facility that
will meet some of the most pressing employment needs of Southwest Washington and
the entire state in computer science and electrical engineering. The proposal is
in cooperation with the Washington Technology Center.

Veterinary Medical Research Building
$7.4
million
$7.4 million in design funding is requested for 2009-2011 to
prepare for construction in 2011-2013 of a neuroscience, cardiac muscle, and
bioengineering research and education building at WSU.
No. 3 Minor Works - Preservation
$42.5
million
Funding is requested to address renewal and preservation
requirements of WSU buildings. The request also includes system-wide projects
for minor infrastructure, health, safety, code requirements, security,
environmental issues, inside cabling and electronics, and risk management
facility improvements. WSU has reduced its deferred maintenance backlog, but it
was estimated at $434 million in 2008.

Minor Works - Program
$28.6
million
Minor Works program money is requested to retrofit older
facilities for cutting-edge research and education. It also includes $18 million
in program equipment upgrades to improve or replace essential instructional and
research apparatus. It includes the capital component of WSU's student core
computer systems replacement.

5 University-wide Infrastructure $12.5
million
The request provides
for three planned improvements for the Pullman campus. The infrastructure
backlog at the Pullman campus alone3 is estimated at $85 million to $120
million.

Traffic Improvements - $7.5
million The proposal focuses on a deteriorating
student overpass connecting the core of campus with major dormitories
and apartments.

Electrical and
Lighting Improvements $2.5 million This project completes lighting
upgrades along Stadium Way on the Pullman campus.

Underground
utilities. $2.5 million. This project addresses improvements in the
transmission and distribution systems for chilled water, electrical, gas
and domestic water in the core of the Pullman campus.

6 - Sloan Hall HVAC
Restoration/Preservation
$3.51 million
The preservation
project will renovate the existing deteriorating heating, ventilating and
air conditioning systems (HVAC) in Sloan Hall, which was built in 1962.

Engineering/Mechanical Engineering HVAC
$3.08 million
This preservation
project will renovate the existing deteriorating heating, ventilating, and
air conditioning systems (HVAC) in the Electrical Engineering/Mechanical
Engineering Building which was built in 1986.

8 - Abelson Hall
HVAC/Preservation
$2.51 million
TThis preservation
project will renovate the existing deteriorating heating, ventilating, and
air conditioning systems (HVAC) in Abelson Hall which was originally built
in 1935. The building provides space for the Schools of Biological Sciences
and Molecular Biosciences, the Conner Museum, Electron Microscopy Center and
the Science Learning Instruction Center and one large general university
classroom.

9 - Washington Building
Preservation
$4.2
million
This $4.2 million project will provide space to co-locate
WSU Counseling and Testing Services and the Disability Resource Center. The
renovation allows for these centers to be located in the same building as
Student Health Services.

10 - Riverpoint South Campus
Preservation
$4
million
Upgrading and developing the interior of this
single-story, high bay, brick masonry and heavy timber warehouse facility,
located on the southeastern portion of Spokane’s Riverpoint campus, is an
appropriate and cost effective solution to providing critically needed space
for growing programs.
Renovated space in this building will be able to
accommodate non-laboratory programs currently in the Health Sciences
Building. This will allow biomedical research and health sciences programs
to expand in the Health Sciences Building.
No. 11 - The Wastewater
Reclamation Project $15.75
million
Funding is
requested for construction of a wastewater reclamation plant addition to the
existing City of Pullman Waste Treatment Facility. Combined with current and
future aggressive conservation measures, the plant is expected to reduce the
stress on a declining water table in the Pullman area.

Disciplines Facility

million
The funds
requested will be used to move academic programs currently housed in
substandard and scattered locations to central campus space. Plans also
include housing campus police in the basement of the building.

13 Life Sciences Renovation $15
million
With construction of the WSU Life Sciences building nearing
completion on the Pullman caqmpus, WSU requests $15 million to renovate and
reconfigure vacated space in four closely-aligned science buildings: Eastlick,
Heald, Fulmer, and Abelson Halls. Renovations are from programs in chemical,
biological and environmental sciences to meet high-demand teaching and research
needs.

Clean Technology Laboratory Building
$5.8
million
Pre-design and design funding of $5,800,000 is requested for a major capital
construction project for the College of Engineering and Architecture that will
replace 60-year old facilities with high-technology laboratories to address
state research and instruction priorities in renewable energy, biofuels, and the
environment.

15 - WSU's Global Animal Health
Building, Phase II $5.3
million
Funding is
requested for the pre-design and design for a Washington Animal Disease
Diagnostic Laboratory building for the 2009-2001 biennium. The proposed
42,800 square foot facility will house the Washington Animal Disease
Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) as well as diagnostics-related research and
development laboratories.

WSU requests design funds for
this project which will allow the nearby College of Business to maintain its
programs, provide room for growth and expansion of enrollments.

Animal Research Facility

Funding is
requested for a building that will house natural animal disease hosts and
test the efficacy of vaccines under development with the School of Global
Animal Health.

Beasley Coliseum Renovation
$100,000
Funding is requested due to
heavy use and age (constructed in 1973). The facility and much of its
equipment show extreme signs of deterioration and need to be upgraded,
Pre-design funding is requested to begin evaluating the options.

Biomedical & Health Sciences

Pre-design
funding is requested for this joint Eastern Washington-WSU facility to
provide appropriately equipped, state-of-the-art biomedical and
biotechnology research space and education support for related life science
teaching and research programs.
