Transfers 40 State Energy Office employees and associated programs to Washington State University Cooperative Extension.

SHB 2191 Fire fighter retirement option Del to Gov 03-04-96

Provides that WSU Fire fighters may opt to get full retirement benefits available to other state fire fighters.

HB 2250 Higher education budgets Del to Gov 03-06-96

Requiring annual, rather than biennial, Higher Education Coordinating Board review of WSU budgets. (Also SB 6174.)

2SHB 2292 Higher ed innovation/quality Del to Gov 03-02-96

Revises the fund for innovation and quality in higher education programs.

2SHB 2293 Higher ed technology fee Del to Gov 03-07-96

Institutions and student government may impose up to $120 annually in fees for funding technology equipment.

SHB 2371 Student loan repayment Del to Gov 03-07-96

A state professional license may be suspended for failure to pay a student loan.

SHB 2478 UW and WSU tuition Del to Gov 03-07-96

Non-resident tuition is increased at WSU and UW from $8,599 to $9,491.

SHB 2535 Public service ethics Del to Gov 03-02-96

Definition of ìbeneficial interestsî allows cases where faculty can contract with private firms.

ESHB 2637 Joint center for higher ed Del to Gov 03-02-96

Allows WSUís graduate dean to represent the president on the joint center board. Renames the Spokane campus "Riverpoint."

HB 2661 Public funds regulation Del to Gov 03-06-96

Allows for up to $50,000 by WSU international program to be deposited in an approved foreign bank.

HB 2913 Future teachers scholarship Del to Gov 03-02-96

Future teachers may repay their loan through other approved programs.

SB 6177 Higher ed student consumer program Del to Gov 03-04-96

The Higher Education Coordinating Board is no longer required to authorize degree programs if the program is accredited.

ESSB 6251 Supplemental operating budget Del to Gov 03-07-96

Provides supplemental funding for WSU including 1,045 new enrollments, wine grape and pesticide research moneys, cooperative library project, $54 million pool for the WHEN project; transfers non-state and state funding for the state energy office.

E2SSB 6705 Higher ed technology plan Del to Gov 03-07-96

Creates the K-20 Telecommunications Oversight and Policy Committee. Details the steps necessary to secure WHEN funding.

SSB 6767 State employee compensation Del to Gov 03-07-96

Personnel Resources Board criteria in effect for the current biennium is made permanent.

ESB 6776 Flood-damaged railroads Del to Gov 03-07-96

Short line railroads, such as the one serving Pullman, use rail assistance account grants the purpose of repairing flood damage.

Calls for an attorney general opinion no later than Aug. 1 on HCP Trust land issues.

ESSB 5605 Higher education drug & alcohol C 17 L 96 03-07-96

Provides for student housing where liquor and drug use is prohibited.

HB 1601 National Guard tuition & fees C 6 L 96 03-06-96

Tuition and Fees may be waived for members of the National Guard on a space available basis.

SGA 9281 & SGA 9282 Richard A. Davis & Peter J. Goldmark S Confirmed 03-07-96

Confirmed by the state Senate to the WSU Board of Regents.
